It’s been really, really muggy here lately. And yeah, I get that we’re smack dab in the middle of summer, and I’ve contributed to the emissions that are causing climate change, so I’m not really complaining, so much as I’m…well, yeah, I’m complaining.
And staying inside as much as possible.
With the impressive rainfall we got over the Fourth, my, ahem, garden (ie, patch of weeds in front of the house) is growing quite nicely. If only the bushes were taller than the thistles, my neighbors might be impressed. But I’m playing the heart attack card…it might be bad for me to be out in that heat, all bent over and yanking on foliage.
I’m not sure what the rest of the family’s excuse is. Maybe I should look into that.
I’m writing. While I anticipate edits to start soon on Deadly Chemistry, I’m kicking around an historical series, which has me scrambling to do research–sure do wish I hadn’t slept through all those social studies classes back in the day.
And I’m reading. There is so much good stuff out there right now!
This past week I read Sleeping Beauty, by Elle Lothlorien, which was…I’m not even sure how to describe it. Well, I mean, it’s kind of a romancey, chick litty, mystery? Basically, its the story of this woman with a weird sleeping disease who hooks up with Dr. Charming (okay, his name is “Charmant”, but…yeah), and things get weird.
There are surfers, and lawyers, and actors, and the Navy blows stuff up. There are so many twists and turns to this story that I can’t decide if it’s totally Deus ex machina, or Freaking Brilliant. I’m going to go with Brilliant, because I did enjoy this book. And we all know my taste is impeccable.
I’d also like to point out that this is one of the most professionally self-pubbed books I’ve read in a long time!
And on the Kindle App right now?
KRISTEN ASHLEY! A new Chaos Motorcycle Club book. *dies, then comes back to life to read*
Sorry, I can’t finish this post, because I have to go finish this book.
